My love for FLEXSEEDS (Alsi)

It was during our younger days , we would see our grand mother  making delcious  Alsi (Flexseeds) Ki Pinni added with khoa , almonds , sugar and butter oil.  during winters . We were told , it's meant for the members of family who are  above 40 years of age and we the children at home were given in small quantity. So, it was natural that delicious Alsi (Flexseeds) Ki Pinni would endeavour the children to take more in the absence of elders at home.
But, now a days , I take Alsi (Flexseeds) in a simple way during extreme winters (15 Dec to 31 Jan in india) . I take ground  little roasted FLEXSEEDS with milk , tea , hot water or add in my evening soup. So, I have experienced Flaxseeds are extremely good for one’s health.
The experience have shown that they are high in antioxidants which prevent free-radical damage by protecting healthy cells from getting damaged. They are a prime source of omega-3 fatty acids which makes them a useful in saving one from the following ailments :
1. Hypertension
2. Skin Cancer
3. Depression
4. Liver Disease
5. Cholesterol
6. Prostate Cancer

  • Most plant foods contain at least small amounts of phytonutrients called lignans. Lignans are unique fiber-related polyphenols that provide us with antioxidant benefits, fiber-like benefits, and also act as phytoestrogens. Among all commonly eaten foods, researchers now rank flaxseeds as the #1 source of lignans in human diets. Flaxseeds contain about 7 times as many lignans as the closest runner-up food (sesame seeds). They contain about 338 times as many lignans as sunflower seeds, 475 times as many as cashew nuts, and 3,200 times as many lignans as peanut
